Internship Overview
We are seeking a motivated college student to help build and manage a Discord-based online community designed to mobilize, equip, and inspire the next generation of mission catalysts, disciple makers, and mission-minded Christians.
This internship is ideal for a student interested in missions, digital ministry, community building, and online engagement. This opportunity involves creating and launching a platform that has not typically been utilized in missionary mobilization; therefore, they will need to already have experience building and/or growing a discord community. The ideal candidate is capable to developing a vision from scratch to build an online community. The intern will play a key role in shaping how young adults discover, explore, and engage with global mission opportunities both within urban North America and around the world, in a digital-first environment.
Key Responsibilities
Community Building & Management
- Help design and organize a Discord server focused on missionary mobilization
- Create and maintain channel structures (discussion, resources, prayer, events, etc.)
- Moderate conversations to foster a welcoming, mission-centered culture
- Establish and enforce community guidelines and best practices
Content & Engagement
- Help develop prompts, discussion topics, and engagement strategies
- Plan discord events and coordinate with Global City leaders
- Curate and share relevant missions-related content and resources
- Encourage participation and relationship-building among members
Growth & Outreach
- Develop strategies to organically grow the Discord community
- Assist with outreach to campus ministries, mission networks, and student communities
- Track basic engagement metrics and provide feedback for improvement
Strategy & Innovation
- Brainstorm new ways to use Discord for missionary mobilization and discipleship
- Provide insights into Gen Z digital culture and online communication trends
- Help experiment with bots, roles, onboarding flows, and automation tools
Qualifications
Required
- Current college student or recent graduate
- Familiarity with Discord (user-level experience required, admin experience a plus)
- Interest in Christian missions, evangelism, and/or cross-cultural ministry
- Strong written communication skills
- Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote environment is a must
Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience moderating online communities
- Background in campus ministry, cross-cultural missions, or ministry leadership
- Interest in digital ministry, communications, or community management
- Basic understanding of online engagement or social media strategy
Commitment
- 5–10 hours per week
- Flexible schedule
- Internship length: 1-2 semesters (flexible based on school schedule) or 4-8 months
- This is a remote unpaid internship
