We have the opportunity while here in New York City to attend house church every week. Everything about participating with a house church is a different experience for me and in many ways more meaningful. First, sharing a meal together as a group is a special time to engage in fellowship with one another and getting to know these new amazing people. Next, engaging in actual worship is a very moving experience. The singing and communion and even prayer just feel even more intimate to me as we gather with a smaller group of people. I felt that the singing was especially powerful because it just gave me a feeling of intimacy with God that I cannot even describe. I feel that worship as a whole in this context was so meaningful for me because I felt more engaged than I normally would, and I could really sense the presence of the Lord in the room. For me, house church is an intimate experience not only with God but also with my brothers and sisters even though I’ve just met them, but I am very excited to get to know more this summer.
