I brought John 3:1-21. A good story for someone interested in Christianity; a bit metaphorical, but good to chew on. After we’d visited and coached each other on coping with life struggles, I listened as she read the Bible story in Chinese. Then we took turns reading the English. “How do you say his name again?” she asked.
“Ni-kol-??”
“Nicodemus.”
She finished reading the story…long pause. A little discussion. Long pause. Was she thinking, re-reading, or wishing I would talk? A little more discussion. Real questions. “I don’t understand….So it’s saying…?…” Finally bits of understanding crept into our conversation. I try to take the position of a learner alongside her. She must be able to reproduce this without me…am I talking or teaching too much? I wish I knew. Please pray for me; pray for her. Satan would love to get his hands on this girl so open to Jesus.
