We’ve known each other for several years now, but just in the last twelve months have we grown close. Milton’s a cool guy, but even he knows he’s missing something. He desires truth, and yet it always seems to evade him.
Often Milton and I talk about God. We pray together and we even study the Bible. He believes in God, but an “active or knowable god” is something my friend doubts. He wants to be right with the Truth, but there just never seems to be an end to his questions and when it seems he starts to get somewhere in his journey, distractions from the past rear their ugly head.
Jesus talks about seed that fell on the thorny soil… the worries and things of this world just seem to beat the hope out of us…
Milton had a bad night last night. He got into a fight and some relationships in his family could be messed up because of it. I went to see him today and he wasn’t home, but his mom was there. She’s a Jehovah’s Witness and when I asked to pray for her and her family she was really thankful. It was a healing a moment and I continually pray that the reconciliation and peace that we asked for from God comes to this family.
I found my friend a while later hanging out at a park, we talked a bit. But he’s distracted.
Pray that the “thorns” that are holding him back would die and fall away… pray that the seeds of the Gospel would grow freely in the lives of my friend and that his entire family would effected because of it.
