Brian is a citizen of Mexico, Ireland, and the USA, born and raised in southern California, in the county just north of Los Angeles. His unusual background gave him a love of all things Latino and cross-cultural: people, food, music among other things. Travel too, along with agriculture and the outdoors. He became a Jesus follower many years ago in California and is excited at this next step in the journey! He plans to move to San Diego to serve GCMI in the Latino and refugee communities there.
He’s made quite a few trips to Mexico over the years, even living for a short time in Mexico City as a college student, and two extended trips to Ireland to visit his close relatives in Dublin, Belfast, and County Donegal. His Irish passport made entering the country a piece of cake! As a Peace Corps volunteer in the agriculture program, he worked with subsistence farmers in a Panama village so small it’s not on the map. More recently he spent a short time in Guatemala with an American medical missions team helping interpret between the nurses and the indigenous patients.
Brian is studying online for a master’s degree in Apologetics & Culture from Trinity Seminary based in Indiana. He had earned a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning in Washington State, spending most of his career in public service of one kind or another, including working with military veterans at risk of homelessness. The Lord has instilled in him a great concern for the spiritual and material well-being of others, recognizing that our true treasures lie in wait for us in eternity.
