Gene was born in Birmingham, AL and graduated high school in Birmingham. Gene experienced life both in small towns and in the city, growing up in the town of Fitzpatrick, Alabama and in the city of St. Petersburg, Florida. Her passion for sharing the gospel began as a teen and continued into young adulthood. She was eventually appointed as a full-time missionary with Cooperative Baptist Fellowship in 2008 and served in India among the Banjara people, teaching English in a boys home and discipleship training and conducting Bible studies with the Banjara women.
Gene possesses over 18 years of experience serving in both long-term and short-term missions, both domestically and globally, with experience on four of the seven continents of the world, including Africa (Nigeria), Asia (India, Israel), Europe (Romania), and North America. She has served as an advocate for missions in the local church and has worked with Perspectives, a missions education & mobilization program. Gene is passionate about Jesus’ last command to “go be a witness to the nations.”
